Weekend Celebrations!

Hello, hello! What a wonderful, crazy whirlwind this past weekend was! On Saturday one one of my oldest, most dearest friends, Sarah tied the knot to her wonderful man, Paul! It was such an honor to be apart of their wedding day! Tears were overflowing for this event since Friday!{Big thanks to the makers of Waterproof Mascara!}Such a fun, completely all DIY, outdoor wedding at the Historic Gibson Museum in Woodland. Loved being apart of a Bridal Party with some amazing girls! {Shout out to the crazy, evil front desk lady at the hotel, who we taught not to screw with a Bride and her girls on the big day!}But new friendships were created! And it was so great to dance the night away after all the planning and pre-wedding events! It made me really nostalgic, as I began to remember my own wedding, and cannot believe that our two year anniversary is upon us in a week now! Crazy how time is passing us by! Sunday was spent in true Van Unen fashion! Celebrating my father-in-law's speed limit birthday! We had a great family dinner in the evening, but prior to that the guys spent the day in front of the TV watching every football game{Yay 49ers for FINALLY beating the Packers in Green Bay for the first time in 22years!} It was a great sports day for Daniel as both the 49ers and the Giants won their games! {always a great thing for a wife!}My MIL and I spent the afternoon at my other home, TARGET, and had a wonderful coffee date talking about some wonderful possibilities in the future! {Kate Hansen, you know what I am talking about;)} Now, its back to work and our regularly scheduled programming! <3

The Anniversary Week!

Why Hello there! I know, I know its been awhile! Ehh...life happens what am I supposed to do!? Anywho, yesterday marked the 7 day countdown to our first wedding anniversary, and I am beyond excited! I make a HUGE deal out of our birthdays, therefore I am making an even HUGER deal out of our anniversary, and have officially declared "anniversary week!" I have made little cards with clues on them, and leave them laying in odd places, and then Daniel is sent on a little hunt to find his surprise for the day! The daily surprises are little things, that I really don't buy on a regular basis! But I am so excited for our anniversary! On Sunday we are going to spend the day in Apple Hill, having a little picnic, walking around and doing some apple picking! Monday, (which is a school day that I cannot miss) we are having dinner and Tahoe Joes, and I am also picking up our anniversary cake from our wedding cake baker on Friday too! Can't wait to celebrate our first amazing year of marriage! Can't believe its already here!

Yucky Little Bug! :(

Hello world! Oh how very nice it is to be able to make my way back upstairs to where the computer is! This week was extremely rough as I had a HORRIBLE, and I mean HORRIBLE little sicky bug! I am not one to call in sick, so of course I give every effort to slap on the cover up and paint a smile on my face to go into work on Wednesday, only to be sent home in my first forty-five painful minutes. The artwork I called makeup that was on my face wasn't helping my cause. I spent the next four days laid up on the couch, living off of water, tea, and Popsicles(mainly Popsicles)!I would have never been able to make it if it wasn't for Dan, who was the absolute best! On that first day I was sent home from work, he came home for lunch to check on me, and I just cried my eyes out begging him not to leave me, and surprisingly when he called his boss, the guy actually let him stay home with me :) The following days he camped out with me and ran errands to stores to get anything that I was wanting! Walking up and down the stairs really took most of my energy, and since I was always hot, and heat rises it was more comfortable for me to sleep downstairs on the couch. Which made me think what is the thing with being on the couch when you are sick! I suppose its because the TV is there..IDK...I was just wondering...anyways, long story short, some sort of yucky little bug is going around, so drink your Vitamin C, take some Emergen-C, Airborne, or whatever your drug of choice is to prevent colds.

Van Unen Happenings Part 3

Hello, hello! Its me, back to my few and far between postings! Today marks the 5th month of Daniel and my being married, so I am going to share with you some of the milestones we have hit.

The Gift Boxes: Apparently we saved the gift boxes and almost every appliance box from our wedding gifts, going all the back to my shower! I got on this "Pre-Spring Cleaning," kick and wanted to really know what was in our hall closet, and spare bedroom and discovered it was all trash! Needless to say the de-cluttering was very necessary and now we have a huge closet that is neatly organized and a guest bedroom!

Nic, you cannot be SuperWife!: Me and my fanatical cleaning! No, I am not OCD, I just like to have a clean house! But I am beginning to learn that it doesn't have to be super clean all the time, and that I cannot do it all between keeping up with the housework and my actual work! I need to relax( I'll let you know how that is going next blog)!

The Talk about Going from 2 to 3: I would really love to hear the pitter patter of little puppy feet! However Daniel is not too keen on dogs, and I am not much of cat fan, but we have been considering welcoming a pet into our little family! ( Fingers crossed for a beautiful little Maltipoo for my Birthday)!

...And My FAVORITE topic: The sleeping arrangement!: As you know from previous blogs, Daniel and I DO NOT SLEEP WELL TOGETHER! I'm the bed hog, he steals the covers, and we both need our own space! We were finally able to upgrade to a King Sized mattress! Thanks to Daniel's discount we got a fabulous deal on a top of the line mattress and we are both sleeping much better these days! I am so very thankful, cause let me tell you one more day in our queen size and I was gonna start camping out on the floor! The only sad part about having a King Size is finding bedding! Apparently in California everyone has a CAL King! Oops, oh well, I found some stuff I liked!

Anywho, this it the latest and greatest about what is happening at The Van Unen's! Until next time...

Whoa Baby!

Happy New Year! I know, I know, I am a little late, but hey better late than never! I hope that everyone enjoyed the holiday season! I know that the Van Unens did! Being that it was our very first married Christmas, and we created a few traditions of our own. 2010 was a wonderful year for us. We purchased our home, got married, Dan got a promotion, I got a fabulous new job, so many wonderful things that we are so very grateful for! The excitement was just non-stop, and its still coming on strong at lighting speeds! Yesterday, we celebrated 5 years of togetherness! I made a beautiful dinner, and got everything cleaned and ready to surprise Daniel when he got home, only to receive a call from my VERY BEST FRIEND to tell me to hurry up, and get to the hospital as she was in labor! That girl went from 0 to 10 in no time, and at 7:48PM Ashlynne Grace FINALLY made her debut!(She was 2 weeks late)! She is such a beautiful little baby, and I was able to sneak a peak at her, and make it home just in time for Dan to be home for our dinner date! I went back to the hospital to see her, and her mommy and daddy this morning, and just holding that precious little baby has already gotten my wheels a spinning...all in due time though! I will be having a ton of fun playing with her and her big sister in the mean time!

In work excitement, I finally had 2 days off in a row this week! I have been working 6 days ever since I was hired and this week I have so been looking forward to my two days of domestic bliss! I am really spending time trying to frantically see what new clothing items I need to get,and planning a menu that is Daniel approved because I am spending a good chunk of March in Las Vegas doing some training events for work! Exciting yes, but for a newlywed not so much! Luckily I will be home just in time for our birthdays!

So far that is all of the excitement that has happened to us in 2011, this year is going to be amazing, and I have every intention of blogging more, but I don't wanna get your hopes up!

90 Days!

Its official! The Van Unen's have passed our 90 days of marriage, and its a keeper! Not that there was ever any doubt! Months two and three of marriage have been trying yet amazing all at the same time! We both started our new jobs which are great opportunities, and we are much more happier with work! We finally hung some pictures, got our bedroom organized and I FINALLY organized the closet! (Everyone knew I had been putting it off for so very long!)We celebrated our first married Thanksgiving, on which I just happened to be sick! But my baked sweet potatoes were a hit! We picked out our very first Christmas tree and got the house Christmas ready! While everything is going great! Our schedules make anything we want to do together hard! Dan works till the wee hours of the morning and I work the main middle 8 hours of the day! Que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be! As long as we acknowledge that our schedules are so scattered, we have to make an extra effort to find time that we can spend together, even if snuggling results in falling asleep! Which the sleeping arrangement is still an issue...

The 3 T's: Tea, Tissue, T.V.

Its that time of year again: cold and flu season! :( I officially have my very first cold as a married woman! Let me tell you, it STINKS! I feel so very horrible, so horrible that I should have called in yesterday, but I was afraid to because I just started my new job last week! However, my boss is amazing and she sent me home early, because she said I probably picked up my cold from her kids! So here I am today, my day off with a laundry list of things to do, and those things are going to have to wait until I am feeling better. Looks like I will be spending my day snuggled up on the couch with tea, tissue and remote in hand!

Happy Friday!
